In Ostoja Natury we create the agricultural ecosystem of tomorrow. This is a reference farm model – a smart village in which we produce the highest quality food, and then we distribute it without intermediaries. Each of the five “Farms” forming our cooperative, being innovative, yet compatible with traditional solutions and at the same time environmentally beneficial, influences the construction of a waste-free and very effective ecosystem.
Organic Food Farm BIO
The primary goal of the BIO Food Farm is the year-round production of high quality food without artificial additives. In Ostoja Natury, we use proven and effective methods of breeding and cultivation.
Classic organic farming
Soil fertilization is carried out naturally without synthetic pesticides, and modern technologies allow for effective, year-round cultivation even in a small space.
On fields of about 50 hectares, we grow vegetables, grain crops, herbs, fruits and honey plants. Ultimately, there will be over 70 varieties and species of various types of plants.
All works are supervised and planned by Stanisław Suchorski, who has been specializing in organic farming for many years.
Organic fish farming
The fish farm in Ostoja Natura is managed by Jarosław Parol, whose company Parol Ryby has been known and valued for many years both in the area and further regions of the country.
This invaluable experience allows us to grow the highest quality fish in an ecological and natural way. Trouts, sturgeons and carp will live in our ponds.
Aquaponics is a new branch of alternative agriculture. It is a closed ecosystem in which the cultivation of plants is combined with fish farming. This allows for year-round production, thanks to which fresh and nutritious vegetables are brought to the tables even in the middle of winter.
Operation of the system is, contrary to appearances, very simple, thanks to which it revolutionized urban agriculture all over the world very quickly. Water with fish droppings, food residues and other waste is sucked in by pumps and watering and fertilizes the rebates in which plants grow. The substrate, however, filters the water, which returns to the aquarium clean and ready for re-use.
Vegetables on elevated beds grow much faster, due to higher humidity, better heating of the substrate, and decomposition of organic matter allows for the early start of cultivation, which extends the growing season. The use of soil free weed seeds means there is almost no need to bleed. In addition, the ground in the boxes is not trampled, which gives it more airiness.
This is a very convenient solution when we grow many different vegetables with completely different fertilizing requirements. The earth in the chest can be replaced at any time, thanks to which we can easily avoid diseases and soil pests.
Nursery of plants
An important part of the entire agricultural production process in Ostoja Natury is nursery – gardening and forestry department dealing with propagation and cultivation of seedlings of trees, shrubs and vegetables at the beginning of life. Our goal is to protect ecological genetic material so as to provide ourselves and our partners with seeds and seedlings of vegetables and fruits of the highest quality.
Bees and honey
The place where Ostoja Natury is located is an excellent place for bees. In connection with the organic farming of buckwheat, sweet clover, grain crops and many varieties of fruit and vegetables, for which the presence of bees is essential, we have established our own apiary.
Our bees get nectar, bee pollen and fall from plants found in the natural environment, away from agglomerations and industrial centers. We use the innovative Flow Hives system that allows you to pick honey straight from the hive and be stress free for bees. Just unscrew the tap mounted in the hive, and fresh honey pours straight into the jar – a real “honey stick”.
In the ranks of our cooperatives there are beekeepers who are eager to transfer their knowledge, thanks to which each of our members can start an adventure with beekeeping.
The taste of homemade jam, or freshly squeezed fruit juice growing in the backyard garden, evoke the most wonderful childhood memories. Many recipes of our mothers and grandmothers go away irrevocably with the departure of older generations.
One of the goals of Ostoja is to save these recipes and use them to bring back delicious and natural preserves and fresh juices from organic fruit growing on our farm.
Treasures of the forest
Ostoja Natury is surrounded by over 350,000 hectares of ecologically clean forests rich in many varieties of mushrooms. This potential should be used. A purchase and processing center will operate in Ostoja, and the offer will include fresh, marinated and dried mushrooms, as well as forest fruits rich in vitamin C.
The innovation farm is a place where modern technologies meet ancient and proven knowledge. We believe that only efficient business models are able to encourage people to change attitudes and follow a economically efficient route, while being friendly to our planet and its inhabitants.
Our main challenge is to create a program for farms with an area of less than 100 hectares (in Poland there are over 700,000) enabling the transformation of production from conventional to ecological, characterized by high product quality while minimizing the negative effects on the natural environment.
The Ostoja Natura – Village 3.0 program assumes the preparation of complete know-how on the main aspects of the functioning of an organic farm, such as:
- production methods adapted to soil and climatic conditions,
- a set of technological solutions
- offer of the optimal machine park
- robotization and automation of agricultural production and processing processes
- construction of a modern distribution platform enabling interaction with clients and direct sales
- access to the seed bank (BIO seed)
- building a model which is self-sufficient, waste-free habitat for rural households
- developing a proven and working business model
Our model assumes building a group of independent producers and cooperatives based on a common knowledge sharing platform, which includes: distribution, communication, technology, knowledge base and seed bank.
Green Energy Farm
The eighteenth-century industrial revolution resulted in a sharp increase in energy demand. Along with the global development of industry, there was a clash with problems such as: climate change, limited availability of drinking water resources and the emergence of new categories of civilization diseases. This prompted humanity to look for an alternative path.
One of the most important issues at the center of attention of the modern world is the need to further increase energy production, taking into account the impact of this process on the ecosystem. Meanwhile, farmers are facing a crisis of historical proportions. Oil prices are the highest in history. The costs of electricity and transport in most countries are growing at an unimaginable rate. This occurs at a time when decreasing profit margins and increased competition threaten the existence of small farms. Including use of energy efficiency, biomass and renewable energy sources can help increase the profitability and resilience of farms, as well as reduce some of the potential environmental impacts of agriculture.
Three advantages of energy independence:
- Financial profitability and cost savings
- Limiting external effects
- Food safety and operational independence
At RSP Ostoja Natury, we also focus on OZE (renewable energy sources) but apart from solar, hydro and wind turbines, the main focus is on energy management of Bio mass and construction of a small agricultural biogas plant with the cogeneration engine enabling production of electricity, heat and cold.
Our culture farm is a wide range of education, information and entertainment, it is also a social and charitable activity manifested in our own ecological education program and a program of masters and journeymen. The culture farm focuses on the communications platform Ostoja Natury TV, education platform and activities in the region.
It is a project whose main task will be providing information on topics related to ecology, modern agriculture and innovation, as well as promoting traditional products that are part of the cultural heritage of Warmia and Mazury. As part of the Cultural Farm, we plan to build educational infrastructure, among others a village of vanishing occupations or an educational path.
One of the elements of Health Farm will be a rest and rehabilitation complex based on the unique Thoma Holz 100 technology. Our goal is to examine and implement the anti-aging program for seniors. The head and author of the program is a member of our cooperative Krystian Przybysz, a rehabilitator? with many years of experience.
